Objectivos
A unidade curricular visa desenvolver competências de: a) compreensão crítica dos processos sociais, profissionais e institucionais que intervêm na produção de conteúdos mediáticos; b) identificação dos modos como os conteúdos mediáticos representam, selecionam e hierarquizam acontecimentos, atores sociais e grupos vulneráveis; c) interpretação das relações entre conteúdos mediáticos, públicos e audiências, considerando os contextos tradicionais, digitais e plataformizados; d) compreensão do papel das métricas, dos dados e das tecnologias digitais na configuração das práticas editoriais e das relações com as audiências; e) reflexão crítica sobre as implicações sociais, éticas e profissionais da produção, medição e utilização de dados sobre conteúdos e audiências. Estas competências relacionam-se com saídas profissionais nas áreas do jornalismo, da comunicação estratégica, da produção e análise de conteúdos, da monitorização de media e dos estudos de públicos e audiências.

Introdução à técnica: conceito e tendências nos estudos de comunicação 2. Análise de conteúdo quantitativa vs. Análise de conteúdo qualitativa 3. Grupos vulneráveis e interseccionalidade: o género nos conteúdos mediáticos Parte 3 - AUDIÊNCIAS 1. Da audiência de massas à audiência datificada 2. Métricas de audiência tradicionais e digitais e decisão editorial 3. Algoritmos, personalização e curadoria automatizada de conteúdos 4. Medição de audiências cross-plataforma: streaming, OTT e a crise dos painéis 5. Audiências participativas, engagement e economia da atenção nas redes sociais 6. Ética, privacidade e dados de audiência.
Método de Avaliação
A avaliação é contínua, com a realização de uma pesquisa empírica em grupo (30%), uma prova escrita individual (50%) e um exercício de apresentação oral individual (20%). Quem não obtiver aprovação na avaliação contínua terá a época de recurso, cujo exame tem uma ponderação de 100%. O horário de atendimento será combinado com os alunos em função da conveniência de agendas entre professores e estudantes.
